Komatsu ranks among the top global producers of construction and mining machinery, boasting a legacy that began in the early 1900s. Its roots go back to 1917, when a team of engineers educated in the USA and Europe established the Komatsu Iron Works Division, focusing on manufacturing equipment for the mining industry.
Komatsu Ltd was officially registered in 1921. Initially, the company focused on repairing construction machinery but soon began rapidly developing and expanding its product range.

- 1931 — release of Japan’s first crawler tractor, designed specifically for agricultural use;

- 2008 — unveiling of an innovative hybrid hydraulic excavator;
- 2021 — introduction of a new series of electric mining dump trucks focused on environmental friendliness and energy efficiency;
- 2023 — implementation of the advanced Komatsu Smart Construction digital platform, using artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance construction process efficiency.
