Company History

Founded in 1940 by Swedish engineers Kristensson and Grähs, Grindex took its name from a blend of their surnames. The company began its journey in Ulvsunda, a suburb of Stockholm, producing ignition systems for naval artillery.

After World War II, Grindex shifted its production toward brake systems for railway wagons and carts. However, a turning point came when the engineers developed their first industrial grinding machine — the Grindex Rockmaster — which opened the door to the construction and mining industries.

Key Milestones

  • 1940s — Development and launch of the Grindex Rockmaster grinder, marking entry into the mining equipment market.
  • Early 1960s — Introduction of the first lightweight submersible pumps capable of dry running, featuring a patented air valve system.
  • 1970s — The product lineup was extended to include both drainage and slurry pumps, supporting the company’s growing global distribution network.
  • 1980 — Full focus on pump technology: discontinuation of grinding machines and shift to innovative dewatering solutions.
  • 1989 — Opening of the U.S. office in Chicago to strengthen presence in the North American market.
  • 1990s–2000s — Introduction of the SMART monitoring system and triple motor protection, enhancing Grindex's reputation for reliability.
  • 2006 — Integration into Swedish industrial group Delaval Holding AB, boosting production capacity and global reach.
  • 2008 — Relaunch of the product line with a redesigned hydraulic system to improve wear resistance and efficiency.
  • 2010–2020 — Ongoing development of INOX pumps for aggressive liquids, implementation of digital monitoring, and improvements in energy efficiency.
  • 2022 — Design optimization of Bravo series pumps for heavy-duty applications, featuring advanced cooling systems.

Applications of Grindex Pumps

Today, Grindex provides reliable pumping solutions for water removal and fluid transfer in the most demanding environments. The company’s products are widely used in construction, mining, public utilities, and infrastructure projects.

  • Drainage pumps — used for dewatering construction pits, mines, basements, docks, and quarries, as well as for groundwater level control and long-distance water transport.
  • Sludge pumps — designed for handling contaminated water with solid particles, sewage, septic systems, and clay slurries.
  • Bravo series slurry pumps — used for sand reclamation, heavy sludge transfer, and dredging operations.
  • INOX series pumps — made of acid-resistant stainless steel for use with chemically aggressive and corrosive fluids.
  • TUBO series — compact submersible pumps designed for confined or technically challenging spaces.

Thanks to precise engineering, patented technologies, and consistent innovation, Grindex remains a global leader in drainage and slurry pump solutions, offering durability and performance for over 80 years.

TechCom supplies original Grindex pumps, spare parts, and accessories, and provides full technical support, expert consultation, and maintenance services throughout the entire equipment lifecycle.
